AWS Cloud Engineer
We are looking for a motivated and experienced AWS Cloud Engineer
Do you have expertise in AWS infrastructure best-practice design, security, and infrastructure-as-code, following industry standards?
While AWS will be your primary focus, you will also contribute to work on other competing cloud hyperscalers like for instance Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform, assisting in ensuring consistency in the security, maintainability, and governance across all cloud environments in use.
The role requires someone who can function as a key technical resource on AWS, but also as someone who understands the theory of cloud best practices and can translate them into secure, scalable, enterprise-grade architectures in an existing business context.
You will be working with:
Your tasks and responsibilities will cover a wide range and include, but is not limited to:
Architect and implement enterprise-grade AWS foundational services, including:
Multi-account/tenant design
VPC and network architecture
Centralised logging and security best practices
Identity, access patterns and integrations
Assisting with the maintenance of architecture, operations, and security of other cloud platforms
Help build, document, and manage procedures related to the operations of cloud platforms in use
Work with cross-department solution relevant for operating in the cloud and with teams like DevOps to facilitate automation and maintainability
Build and maintain reusable IaC modules using OpenTofu
Work with the team in establishing and maintaining patterns as needed for managing the cloud platforms
Contribute as a cloud expert in technical meetings, external and internal projects, and customer implementations and integrations where needed
Your future team:
Your department will be MDR Operations - Cloud Infrastructure. The department's mission is to function as the foundational architects and operators of cloud hyperscalers for both internal use and external MDR service deliveries.
Who we are looking for:
We believe our new colleague will have:
Substantial expertise in working with cloud architecture and operations, primarily with AWS
Deep understanding of the core concepts in AWS
A fundamental understanding of security in the cloud
Preferably fundamental understanding of other cloud hyperscalers like Azure and GCP
Preferably experience with the use of IaC in managing cloud infrastructure
Preferably experience coding/scripting and CI/CD tooling
Security and cloud certifications are a plus, but not a requirement
Personal traits:
Willingness and eagerness to learn and translate that into actionable knowledge: training and certification is provided on the job
An open mind and ability to adapt: working with technology, especially something as fast moving as cloud related technologies requires that you keep an open mind and an ability to adapt to swift changes
You understand the difference between best practice and business reality, and can work with the realities of both
Team player: ability to work as part of a team, with respect, collaboration, and support amongst your colleagues in your department and in the rest of the organisation
Ability to translate and explain complex concepts into actionable guidance and work
Ability to think outside the box, looking at building blocks for the future
